Bahasa Inggris : Cara Mengubah Kalimat Aktif ke Pasif Bahasa Inggris

Hai sahabat Ahzaa, dalam rubrik  Bahasa Inggris kali ini, kita akan membahas mengenai perubahan bentuk kalimat aktif ke pasif dalam Bahasa Inggris. Kalimat dalam Bahasa Inggris bisa berbentuk aktif maupun pasif. Dalam kalimat aktif, subject kalimat bertindak sebagai pelaku. Dalam kalimat pasif, subject menerima perbuatan.

Ada lima langkah dasar untuk membentuk kalimat aktif menjadi kalimat pasif, yaitu sebagai berikut ;

1. Tempatkan complemen dalam kalimat aktif di awal dari kalimat pasif.
2. Bila dalam kalimat aktif terdapat "auxiliaries", maka tempatkan "auxiliaries" tersebut setelah subject yang baru terbentuk  sesuai dengan aturan jumlah subject.
3. Sisipkan kata kerja "be" setelah "auxiliaries" dengan bentuk yang sesuai (tenses yang sama) dengan kata kerja utama dalam kalimat aktif.
4. Tempatkan kata kerja utama dari kalimat aktif sesuadh "auxiliaries" dan bentuk kata kerja "be" dalam bentuk "past participle"
5. Subject kalimat aktif yang diletakkan setelah kata kerja dalam kalimat pasif biasanya ditambahkan dengan bentuk preposisi "by".

Untuk lebih jelasnya, perhatikan pada bentuk berikut;

I. BENTUK SIMPLE PRESENT atau SIMPLE PAST

[am, is, are, was, were + verb in past participle]

Contoh 1 :

Aktif  : Hurricanes destroy the town every year.

Pasif   : The town is destroyed by hurricanes every year. 

Contoh 2 :

Aktif : Hurricanes destroyed twenty houses yesterday.

Pasif  : Twenty houses were destroyed by hurricanes.

Perhatikan pada kata yang ditebalkan, ada perubahan pada bentuk kata kerjanya

II. BENTUK PRESENT CONTINUOUS atau PAST CONTINUOUS

[am, is, are, was, were + being + verb in past participle]

Contoh 1:

Aktif : John is calling the other members.

Pasif : The other members are being called by John.

Contoh 2

Aktif : Rina was delivering the documents.

Pasif : The documents were being delivered by Rina.

III. BENTUK PRESENT PERFECT atau PAST PERFECT

[has, have, had + been + verb in past participle]

Contoh 1

Aktif : The company has ordered some new equipment.

Pasif : Some new equipment has been ordered by the company.

Contoh 2 

Aktif : The delegates had received the information before the recess.

Pasif : The information had been received by the delegates before the recess.

IV. BENTUK MODALS

[modal + be + verb in past participle]

Contoh 1

Aktif :The teacher should buy the supplies for this class.

Pasif : The supplies should be bought for this class by the teacher.

Contoh 2

Aktif : The manager will sign the contract.

Pasif : The contract will be signed by the manager.

V. BENTUK MODALS PERFECT

[modal + have + been + verb in past participle]

Contoh 1

Aktif : Somebody should have called the president this morning.

Pasif : The president should have been called this morning.

Contoh 2 

Rudi will have received the papers by tomorrow.

The papers will have been received by Rudi by tomorrow.
