Beberapa ungkapan digunakan untuk menyatakan ungkapan kesetujuan dan ketidaksetujuan (agreeing and disagreeing). Untuk menyatakan ungkapan tersebut, dalam sebuah percakapan biasanya didahului dengan ekspresi pembuka dengan menyatakan opini seperti In my opinion...; According to ...; As far as I'm concerned...; If you ask me... atau dengan menanyakan pendapat misalnya, What's your idea?; What are your thoughts on all of this? ; How do you feel about that? ;  Do you have anything to say about this? ; What do you think? ; dan Do you agree?

Tentu saja dengan pendahuluan beberapa ungkapan diatas, akan dijawa dengan ungkapan atau ekspresi apakah penilaian tentang pendapat kita, setujukah kita atau tidak setujukah kita tentang apa yang ditanyakan atau dinyatakan melalui ungkapan tersebut.

Ekspresi- ekspresi yang lazim digunakan untuk menyatakan agreeing atau disagreeing adalah sebagai berikut ini;

Expressing agreement

Expressing disagreement

• I'd say the exact opposite.

Dalam soal, kita akan melihat ekspresi tersebut dikembangkan sesuai dengan konteks percakapannya sehingga harus benar- benar jeli dalam memahami dan mengerti keseluruhan maksu dan tujuan dari percakapan tersebut.
