Listening merupakan salah satu bagian dari mapel bahasa Inggris yang diujikan dalam ujian nasional tingkat SMA/ SMK. Kedua jenjang memiliki komposisi jumlah soal yang sama yaitu 15, akan tetapi berbeda dalam tipe dan jenis soalnya.

Meskipun hanya 15 soal, ternyata soal seksi listening menjadi soal yang dianggap sulit. Ketidakbiasaan siswa dalam menggunakan bahasa Inggris karena bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa kedua mungkin saja menjadi faktor tersebut.
Nah, bagi adik- adik yang akan menghadapi ujian nasional sebentar lagi, berikut sudah saya siapkan kiat- kiat untuk menaklukkan ujian nasional bahasa Inggris tipe soal listening.
Pahami Format dan Petunjuk Soal
Soal listening ujian nasional memiliki format soal tertentu baik untuk SMA atau SMK. Pada soal listening SMA adik- adik akan menjumpai empat bagian soal listening soal antara lain,
Bagian pertama, percakapan disertai dengan pertanyaan seputar dialog tersebut. Ada lima pilihan jawaban yang akan tersedia dalam soal, dan diharuskan memilih salah satu jawaban yang paling benar. Soal bagian pertama ini terdapat pada nomor satu sampai empat.
Bagian kedua, dialog yang belum lengkap, khususnya pada bagian respon dialog tersebut. Kita mesti memilih satu respon dari empat respon pilihan jawaban yang tepat untuk melengkapi dialog tersebut. bagian kedua ini terdapat pada nomor lima sampai tujuh.
Bagian ketiga, monolog dalam bahasa Inggris. Adik- adik mesti harus mencari tahu informasi apa yang terdapat dalam monolog. Pada soal, akan tampak lima jawaban yang berbentuk gambar dan diharuskan memilih gambar yang sesuai dengan apa yang dimaksudkan dalam monolog. Soal untuk bagian ketiga ini terdapat pada soal nomor delapan sampai sebelas.
Bagian keempat, terdapat sebuah monolog, kemudian kita diminta untuk menjawab pertanyaan seputar informasi yang terdapat dalam monolog tersebut. Lima pilihan jawaban informasi akan tersedia dalam soal dan kita akan memilih salah satu jawaban yang benar berdasar monolog tersebut.
Sedangkan pada soal listening SMK,
Bagian pertama, gambar. Pada bagian ini adik- adik akan melihat beberapa gambar dalam soal dan mendengarkan empat pertanyaan pendek selanjutnya akan diminta untuk menjawab pernyataan yang paling tepat untuk menjelaskan gambar tersebut.
Bagian kedua, questions - responses. Pada bagian kedua ini adik- adik akan mendengar beberapa pertanyaan diikuti oleh tiga respon. Setiap pertanyaan harus dijawab melalui respon yang tepat berdasarkan konteks atau topik yang dibicarakan.
Bagian ketiga, percakapan pendek. Pada bagian soal ini adik- adik akan mendengar beberapa percakapan pendek. Kemudian terdapat pertanyaan seputar percakapan tersebut. Biasanya terdapat kata tanya atau Question Words seperti What, Who, Whom, When, When, Where, Whose, Why, Which, How, How often, How long, How much, How many.
Bagian keempat, pembicaraan atau percakapan pendek. Terdapat pembicaraan atau percakapan pendek, dalam hal ini biasanya pembicaraan atau monolog tentang topik tertentu, misalnya pemberitahuan, pengumuman, cerita pendek naratif prosedur sesuatu, dan sebagainya. Kemudian diikuti dengan pertanyaan dan pilihan jawaban. Pada bagian ini adik- adik harus memilih jawaban yang paling tepat berdasarkan isi pembicaraan tersebut.
Dengarkan dengan Cermat
Dalam menjawab soal listening, konsentrasi merupakan hal yang utama. Dengarkan setiap pertanyaan dalam soal dengan seksama. Pada moda UNBK, soal hanya dapat diputar dua kali. Manfaatkan dua kesempatan tersebut dengan baik.
Ketahui pertanyaan yang mudah dan sulit
Setiap pertanyaan memiliki tipe kesulitan yang berbeda apakah tentang topik yang dibicarakan ataukah tentang vocabulary yang digunakan dalam soal. Kesempatan mendengar audio sebanyak dua kali dalam moda UNBK bisa dimanfaatkan dengan baik. Kesempatan pertama untuk mengenali arah maksud soal sekaligus menjawab pertanyaan dan kesempatan kedua untuk memantapkan jawaban. Bahkan kalau perlu bisa mengingat dan mencatat bagian- bagian soal yang menjadi poin utama.
Manfaatkan jeda waktu jawab soal
Kelebihan moda UNBK dalam menjawa soal listening adalah peserta tes dapat memutar audio untuk soal yang dikehendaki dengan kesempatan sebanyak dua kali. Adik- adik bisa memanfaatkan waktu jeda untuk menjawab soal misalnya dalam jeda soal nomor satu ke soal nomor dua.
Jangan biarkan ada jawaban kosong
Pergunakanlah kesempatan dan waktu dengan baik dengan menjawab setiap pertanyaan dalam soal dan jangan biarkan ada pilihan jawaban yang belum terjawab. Ketika selesai menjawab keseluruhan soal dan memiliki waktu sisa, alangkah baiknya menge-cek kembali jawaban-jawaban sebelumnya. Moda UNBK memudahkan untuk mengecek kembali jawaban dengan melihat fitur jawaban pada display.
Berlatihlah Soal Listening
Perbanyaklah latihan soal- soal listening dalam soal ujian atau tes. Dengan banyak latihan soal adik- adik akan terlatih dalam menghadapi ujian atau tes. Adik- adik bisa berlatih melalui soal- soal listening pada blog ini. Selain itu, perbanyaklah beraktivitas seperti membaca (reading), menonton, mendengar musik bahkan main game untuk memperbanyak vocabulary adik- adik. Buatlah catatan kecil untuk istilah baru ketika anda membaca tulisan atau ulasan bahasa Inggris.

Berdasarkan survei kemampuan pelajar yang dirilis oleh Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), pada awal Desember tahun ini -2019- di Paris, Indonesia menempati peringkat ke-72 dari 77 negara. Indonesia masih berada di peringkat enam terbawah, jauh di bawah negara-negara tetangga kita seperti Malaysia dan Brunei Darussalam. Dalam survei ini, kualitas diukur berdasarkan kemampuan membaca, matematika dan sains. Dari beberapa faktor kelemahan yang ada, salah satu penyebabnya adalah kompetensi guru yang masih rendah dibuktikan dengan hasil UKG yang relatif dibawah rata- rata.
UKG
Uji Kompetensi Guru (UKG) ditujukan untuk mengukur kompetensi dasar terhadap bidang studi (profesional) serta kemampuan pedagogik guru. Cigarette smokers are said to have a good chance of getting various fatal diseases. But, I think that other people’s tobacco smoke seems to increase the chances of non smokers getting a wide range of cancers.
First, although passive smokers inhale less tobacco smoke, the researchers point out that the smoke they breathe in is richer in many toxic chemicals. There is, for example, three times as much as benzo-apyrene, six times as much as toluene and more than 50 times as much as dimethyllnitrosamine. Of course these substances will harm our body in the long run.
Secondly, the recent research indicated that the risk of getting cancers not normally associated with smoking also rose among passive smokers. The risk of leukemia rose 6 – 8 times and the risk of cervical cancer increased 3-4 times.
Thirdly, past studies have found that the products of cigarette smoke such as nicotine and thiocyanate, turn up in the blood, urine and saliva of non smoking adults, children and fetuses that have been exposed to smokers. These substances are the main causes of various cancers. In short, the effects of exposure to the cigarette smoking of others are greater than has been previously suspected. Nowadays, many people have realized that agriculture is much more important than other supporting tools in economic development. In Indonesia, agriculture should be the priority of development because of some good reasons.
First of all, the agriculture’s contribution in the beginning of the development of the country was the highest of all sectors. At present, almost half of the total Indonesian labors are working in the agriculture sectors, but the contribution of the agriculture sector does not reach 30 percents.

Breakfast is one of the morning routines that is usually skipped by many people. There is an assumption saying that having breakfast in the morning could result in the significant increase of body weight. Some of them do not have time for doing this routine because of hurry or other business. They might think that breakfast is not important. However, it is completely wrong. Butterflies are winged insects of the order Lepidoptera. They are the adult version of caterpillars. They are one of animals that undergo a metamorphosis cycle in their live to became adult. There are around 18.500 species of butterfly in the world and they inhabited all region except Antarctica. Each species of butterflies can reach various maximum body size. Some of them can reach the size of 25 cm while others can only reach the size of 3 to 5 cm. A species that is considered to be the largest butterfly in the world is Queen Alexandra’s Birdwing or also known as Ornithopetra alexandrae. It is recorded that the life span of a butterfly is around 12 months.

What you need:
•A 2 cm thick piece of Styrofoam
•Writing paper
•A stick like the one used for sate
•Cutter
•Pencil
•Scissors
•Ruler
•Color pencils
How to make it:
1.Cut a 4x10 cm piece of the Styrofoam for the hull and two pieces of 8x2 cm each for the floats. Make an arrow – like shape on one side of the hull. Save the triangles. Prepare two sticks of 15 cm long each.
2.Join the hull and the floats together with one stick. Push the other stick vertically into the hull for the sail. Put one of the triangles above the hull.
3.Cut an 8x12 cm piece of paper for the sail and a triangle of 2x6x6 cm for the flag. Draw your favorite picture on the paper.
4.Weave the vertical stick through the sail and flag. Your sailboat is done.

I loved the house in which we would spend the night, but there weren’t enough rooms for all of us to sleep there, so we decided to sleep in the tents.
The first night was absolutely great since we made an opened area party with some villagers, but I ate too much spicy food, and so I felt ill in the next morning! The second night there was jungle trek-lots of interesting things there, but not enough time to see everything. Anyway, I’ll see you next weekend and show you all my photos. See you then.

When I was 8 years old, I used to go for music class two blocks away from home. Whenever I had to pay fees to the music class, my grandpa would accompany me so that he could hand over the money safely.
One day my grandpa gave me the fees (100 rupees I guess) and asked me to take it carefully as he could not come. I was scared that I would lose the money. I kept it in my notebook. While walking I looked at it every few seconds to make sure that it was there. To my surprise, when I opened the book half way to the class, the money wasn't there! I didn't know how I lost it.
I came back all the way searching for it and couldn't find it. I was running here and there which made a dog mad and it started chasing me. I ran home crazily. When I reached home, I was panting and crying terribly. I was still in shock that when my grandparents asked me what happened, I just said "Dog... Dog". They thought a dog actually bit me and were very tense. When the situation settled down, I told them what had happened. I was relieved because they did not scold me for losing the money.

Millions of bison once thundered across North America. These massive animals, characterized by their long, shaggy brow coats, have poor eyesight but acute hearing and an excellent sense of smell.
Historically, the American bison played an essential role in shaping the ecology of the Great Plains. They graze heavily on native grasses and disturb the soil with their hooves, allowing many plant and species to flourish.
A bison’s thick fur offers great protection against the harsh elements of the American plains. Their winter coat is so thick and well insulated that snow can cover their backs without melting.
Bison are adapted to the extreme weather conditions of the Great Plains, from summer heat to winter cold and blizzards. In winter, bison can dig through deep snow with their heads to reach the vegetation below.
Bison often rub, roll, and wallow. Wallowing creates a saucer-like depression in the earth called a wallow. This was once a common feature of the plains; usually these wallows are dust bowls without any vegetation.
Bulls and cows do not mingle until breeding session. Dominant bull “tend” to cows, following the cow until the cow chooses to mate. During this period, the blocks the cow’s vision so that she may not see other competing bulls, and bellows at males striving for the cow’s attention.
