Penggunaan Numerals (Nama- Nama Angka ) ; Cardinal Number, Ordinal Number dan Fraction dalam Bahasa Inggris

Hai sahabat Ahzaa,s elamat datang kembali di AhzaaNet. Pada kesempatan ini kita akan membahas tentang numerals yaa.. Numerals disebut juga nama- nama angka. Nah, seringkali kita temukan penerapan numerals tersebut dalam kalimat bahasa Inggris dan kadang juga kita belum juga bisa membedakan bentuk- bentuk numerals yang ada. Melalui tulisan berikut ini, kita akan ketahui secara lengkap penggunaan dan jenis numerals secara runtut dan lengkap. 

Numerals (nama- nama angka) terdiri atas tiga bagian yaitu

1. Cardinal Number ( bilangan pokok)

2. Ordinal Number ( bilangan bertingkat)

3. Fraction ( bilangan pecahan)

Cardinal number merupakan bilangan pokok seperti one, two, three, four, five, six dan seterusnya. Sedangkan ordinal number merupakan bilangan bertingkat seperti the first, the second, the third, the fourth, dan seterusnya.

Ordinal numbers digunakan dalam pemeringkatan atau perangkingan, penyebutan tanggal, dan sebagainya. 

Baik, agar tidak keliru atau bingung, berikut ini tabel untuk membedakan kedua jenis bilangan tersebut,

Kata- kata bilangan yang lebih besar dari 20 selalu menggunakan tanda penghubung (-)

Contoh :

135 = one hundred and thirty- five

275 = two hundred and seventy- five

3489 = three thousand four hundred and eighty -nine

1984 = one thousand nine hundred and eighty- four

17.945 = seventeen thousand nine hundred and forty- five

89.865 = eighty nine thousand eighty hundred and sixty - five

10.003 = ten thousand and three 

Pemisahan angka- angka ribuan, jutaan, puluhan juta dan seterusnya biasanya memakai tanda

(.) titik, di Indonesia

(,) koma, di Inggris

Untuk membaca bilangan pecahan (fraction), maka dapat dilihat melalui contoh berikut ini,

1/2 = a/ one-half

1/3 = a/ one- third

4/5 = four- fifth

1/7 = one- seventh

2/3 = two- third

5/7 = five- seventh

7/9 = seven - ninth

1/4 = a forth/  a quarter

3/4 = three- fourth / three quarters

9/11 = nine-eleventh

1/8 = an/one eighth

0.5 = zero point five

16.13 = sixteen point one three

Cara membaca complex numbers

101 = a/one hundred and one

142 = a/ one hundred and forty- two

1001 = a/one thousand and one

2325 = two thousand, three hundred and twenty-five

15972 = fifteen thousand, nine hundred and seventy- two

234753 = two hundred and thirty- four thousand, seven hundred and fifty - three

1 000 000 000 = 10⁹ = a/one billion (US) , a/one thousand million (GB)

1 000 000 000 000 = 10¹² = a/one trillion (US) , a/one billion (GB)

1 000 000 000 000 000 = 10¹⁵ = a/one quadrillion (US) , a/one thousand billion (GB)

1 000 000 000 000 000 000 = 10¹⁸ = a/one quintillion (US) , a/one trillion (GB)

** GB = Great Britain

Membaca pecahan desimal (decimal fractions)

0.125 = (nought) point one two five

0.25 = (nought) point two five

0.33 = (nought) point three three

0.5 = (nought) point five

0.75 = (nought) point seven five
